Chiba Tsugutaka

Daito Ryu Hiden Mokuroku

The application of Aiki in the techniques demonstrated by Chiba Tsugutaka is analysed below.

Analysis

At a time of 19.13 Uke attacks by grabbing Tori's jacket. Tori induces Uke to apply Aiki by applying an upward atemi as Uke pulls. To minimise the impact of the atemi, Uke straightens his body by reversing the muscle torque about the ankle joint of his front leg causing him to become unbalanced to the front by the contact reaction force due to the pull.

Analysis

At a time of 50.49 Uke attacks by grabbing Tori from the rear. Tori induces Uke to apply Aiki by stepping forward as he lowers his body. To resist Tori stepping forward, Uke pulls back by reversing the muscle torque about the ankle joint of his front leg causing him to become unbalanced to the front by the downward contact reaction force due to Tori lowering his body weight.

Analysis

At a time of 51.25 Uke attacks by grabbing Tori's arms from the rear. Tori induces Uke to apply Aiki by raising his arms as he steps forward. To resist Tori raising his arms, Uke pulls downwards by reversing the muscle torque about the ankle joint of his front leg causing him to become unbalanced to the front by the forward contact reaction force due to Tori stepping forwards.
